BarfFace Chicky, Bajji, Wounded Khannler, Krish, BasuDude, Maggu, ShituMan, Rao, EmmVee and I set off in our bus to Goa from Bangalore on the 16th of July. The journey was splendid - fantastic food, brilliant landscapes and ofcourse comfortablle, to say the least. Perhaps, Barfface Chicky, true to his name, might not agree with me.
We reached Goa the next morning and were greeted by the rain Gods. We made our way to one of the properties of Royal Goan Beach Resorts at Benoulim called Beach Club (near Taj Exotica). The 10 of us shared accomadation in two spacious, well-furnished, clean and convenient duplex cottages. The resort was small, but quite well maintained. But the food there was terrible. And, being in South Goa, there isn't much to do near the resort.
Day 1(17th): The cyclonic rain did not look like it would stop, so we chilled out at the resort all day. Played TT. Ate a terrible lunch thanks to Bruno(stop laughing Basa)! I got the chance to meet some of the rotaractors at the installation of Rotaract Club of Margao in the evening, and dine with them. That was fun as well. DRR(RID 3170) Rtr. Anirudha Borkar, Rtr. Priyanka, Rtr. Harish and Rtr. Yash made this a memorable day for me. Came back and joined the rest for a little celebration!
Day 2(18th): The rain didn't stop. But nonetheless, we hired two cars and drove to North Goa. Found most beaches void of any activity as it was "off-season" in Goa. We looked around Baga, ate at Lime Light near Tito's, and had a good time around there. In the evening, we ate at "Punjab Dhaba" and went to the well-known shack Curlies later in the night, but found it absolutely lifeless. We came back to the resort and partied at our cottages. The drives all around were crazy! We developed "Intensity"! What say Int Pint Birdler? hahaha! xD
Day 3(19th): Needless to say, the rain didn't stop. Bajji had scheduled to leave on this day. We dropped him off at the airport at around 1 p.m. and then returned to the resort. That evening, we made our way to the beach(Benoulim) in the rain. Played football till almost 9 p.m. on the white sands of the beach with the sea marking one end and the rocks marking the other end of our "field", while the rain stung as we played. It was fantastic.
Day 4(20th): The rain hadn't stopped yet. We ignored that. We checked out of our hotels and went on a hunt to find some shops, then had a fabulous lunch at Martin's Corner, visited the Margao market and then boarded our bus to Bangalore soon after. Ofocurse, the journey back was great too!
Who knew that my best holiday ever would include breaking a phone, having a terrible lunch on day 1, being drenched 24/7, driving without information of routes, being brutally bitten by insects, dropping off a friend a day before the holiday got over.. but I guess when I'm travelling with the nine of them, most of whom met while learning the English alphabet together in the same classroom, I know I will have a blast.

Installation of Rotaract Club of Bangalore Indiranagar 2010-2011
On the 12th of July, at the Rotary meet, was the much-awaited installation night for the members of the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Indiranagar for the year 2010-2011. As the outgoing President, I had the honour of reporting the activities of a year 2009-2010. We have definitely done well in the last year, and still I know for a fact, and hope, that this coming year is going to be legen-wait for it-dary!
I also had the privilege of installing Rtr. Shane Lobo as the President. His ideas and plans for the year have won many a heart. Along with his star-studded team, I am confident he will meet, and perhaps surpass all expectations.
The chief guest for the evening was the charismatic Mr. Ian Faria and the guest of honour was the very graceful Col. Subramanian. Their words of wisdom, appreciation and encouragement will take our club a long way. Also, Miss India Earth, the beautiful Nicole Faria (daughter of Mr. Ian Faria) was present, and was also installed as a member of the Rotaract Club.
It was splendid to see DRR Rtr. Giri Chittur as well as the EC members Rtr. Sidharth Chittur, Rtr. Rithika Sundaram, Rtr. Akhilesh and Rtr. Vikram attending the installation. Also, I acknowledge the presence of Rtr. Nithila from JNC, Rtr. Carmel Raju from Rotaract Club of Kalyan, Rtr. Adeshwar from Rotaract Club of Bangalore Southwest, Rtr. Abhishek Bajaj from Rotaract Club of Bangalore. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone else.
I am elated to see Rtr. Shane Lobo and team taking over and wish this dynamic group all the very best.
